OBLIGATO
|
Obligato is Goa's first latino band featuring Donna Noronha and Amalia Gomes on vocals, Joshua Noronha on guitar, Carlos Gonsalves and Cedric Viegas on percussion, Julius Fernandes on keyboards, Colin D'Cruz on bass and Lester Godinho on drums.
The band's repetoire covers the whole spectrum of latin rhythms like samba, socca, salsa, merengue, songo, etc.
Obligato's music in a nutshell is happy carnival music played live and straight from the heart as opposed to current trends of sequencing, programming and miming.
Obligato is one of the most sought after acts on the local live music scene in Goa and have performed some of the biggest events in Goa within six months of being formed.
The band looks forward to becoming Goa's live music ambassadors.

SILVERCHOPS
|
Silverchops came into existence in the later part of 2006 out of the interaction between Rose Eilert and Jayant S and the convergence of their musical interests which found a common expression in jazz.
The ensemble staged its well-received debut performance in Pune on 22 December 2006, featuring Sid Sharma on bass and Adrian D'Souza on drums.

JAZZ JUNCTION
|
Jazz Junction was formed in Goa in April 2004 by virtuoso jazz bassplayer Colin D'Cruz.
The band made it's debut at the high profile fashion meets jazz show L'affaire Xtraordinaire in Panjim.
Soon after that the band stormed through the 'Down to Earth' jazz festival at Campal and has since then, performed at some of the biggest live music events hapenning around the country.
Colin formed this band with a unique 'floating singers/soloists' concept where a different singer and/or soloist is featured each time the band performs.
This gives the band a different sound at every performance.
So far the band has featured some accomplished local as well as international jazz artistes and performs on the first Wednesday of each month at Mumbai's Starters & More restaurant.

BAND PROFILE:
KIXMET is a path breaking Goan progressive metal band who play a style of music which they like to call New Age Metal. It has the unique distinction of being one of the few Indian rock bands to always perform only original compositions at the various gigs they have played.
Comprising six enterprising musicians from Goa, Kixmet is a rock band with a mission. Their raw, rootsy, edgy, rebellious, purpose driven original music is inspired by life, its passions, struggles and challenges, combined with a heady cocktail of Indian folk rhtyhms (characterised by the use of folk percussion instruments), dual male and female vocals, exotic scales and haunting melodies that are difficult to forget. Hopeful without being escapist. They make music the old fashioned way with live instruments and songs written and composed from the heart. Dedicated to live sound and no covers, they have a raw earthy feel to their music and a freshness of thought evident in their meaningful lyrics, soulful melodies and novel arrangements. They burst on the scene three years ago with their cut-to-the-bone Single `9/11' (2005) which comprises ethnic rhythms of the Goan dulpod with heavy metal and neo-classical electric guitar arrangements, echoing the horror of global terrorism. Followed soon by another edgy Single `End of Innocence' (2006) on child abuse, both heavily played on Radio FM, Goa, followed soon by `Power of the People' (2007). Their songs showcase some of the best talents the band has to offer, be it in the high-octane rapping voice of Lethal Ethel (lead vocals, songwriter), the smooth keys of Bryson Goes (keyboards), the super combination of Leo Goes (drums) and Baltej Singh (percussions), great guitar work by Vijayan Almeida (lead guitar, singer-songwriter, flautist) and Lenin Vaz (bass).
Kixmet believes in making original music that reflects our Goan roots, Indian heritage and our citizenship of the world.

GIG History:
Kixmet has played numerous gigs and have won the hearts of audiences despite the rock scene of India being dominated by cover bands. Their music has also won appreciation internationally as can be seen by the response on www.myspace.com/kismetgoa

4) BEST BAND OF THE SAND Contest -- Feb 2007: Kixmet were First Runner-up in the recently concluded `Best Band of the Sand' contest organised by Sprite and judged by India's famed rock band Parikrama. Kixmet was the only band to play exclusively original songs for the contest.
Accomplishments:
1) Two singles released on FM Radio in India. The song `9/11' was also aired on the US based radio station Realityradio.biz
2) Collaborated with the NGO Children's Rights in Goa (CRG) to spread awareness of peadophilia in Goa through music. We did the theme song for CRG called the `END OF INNOCENCE' as well as the theme song for the Grafittaids AIDS Awareness Concert.
3)First Runner's up in The Battle of the Bands Competition in 2006. We were the only band that played exclusively original compositions.
4) First runners up at the Band of the Sand Contest 2007. Kixmet won majority of the popular vote by 11,000 votes, and came in a close second to the winners and were well appreciated by judges Parikrama for the event.

JUST JAZZ
|
Just Jazz is Goa's premier jazz ensemble featuring Belinda Oliveira on vocals, George Fernandez on piano, Colin D'Cruz on bass and Lester Godinho on drums.
All accomplished virtuosos who have found a common platform for musical expression with Just Jazz.
Live performances almost always feature guest soloists on horns, didgeridoo, ukulele, sledgehammer, laser gun, or just about anything that would burn a scorching solo over Just Jazz's smoking rhythm section.
Angel AV, Goa's numero uno record label has signed on Just Jazz and released an album recorded live in concert.

THE BASSMAN'S BAND

The Bassman's band led by virtuoso jazz bassplayer Colin D'Cruz, features some of the hottest local as well as international talent.
The band has been signed on by the Taj Landsend hotel on a resident contract and performs at the Atrium Lounge Tuesdays to Sundays, 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
Friday and Saturday nights feature Australian singer Megan Perry.
The rest of the week the band performs a wide range of instrumental nightclub standards.
The Bassman's Band is professionally managed by Mumbai based Mardigras Entertainment.

BROWN INDIAN
|
The Brown Indian Band has been formed by bassplayer Colin D'Cruz.
The band features accomplished Indian classical musicians in concert with jazz virtuosos.
Indian classical music can be compared to jazz as both are forms of improvised music.
Indian classical music is linear and uses just one scale (raga) to improvise within a composition whereas jazz has a much broader palette for improvisation where multiple scales can be used to improvise through harmonic changes.
Indian classical music however, has some of the world's most complex rhythm structures and subtle quarter tones that add an exciting new dimension to jazz.
The Brown Indian Band uses the best of both forms of improvisation to create India's contribution to world music.
The band is managed by Mumbai based Mardigras Entertainment and currently performs on a resident contract at the JW Marriott hotel, Mumbai, Wednesday to Sundays, 12.30 to 3.30pm.

Shanti is an indo-jazz fusion ensemble put together by Goa's sitar maestro Yograj Naik.
The Band features some accomplished Indian classical musicians in concert with jazz virtuosos.
Shanti (meaning peace) hopes to promote worldwide unity and peace through music.
